And what I’m hearing is that you’re stuck.

Friend, I have been to MANY conferences. And the majority of them were headed up by fantastic presenters. They were great leaders, had good insights, and were clearly knowledgeable. 

But when it comes to teaching a woman of color how to grow in her career? They fell flat. 

Some of the advice just didn’t resonate with me. And some of the recommendations actually hurt more than they helped. When my non-melanated counterparts applied what they learned, they were considered “assertive,” and “on top of their game.” On the other hand, I was told I was “angry” and “difficult to work with.” 

To be honest, I got tired of it.  And I know some of you are out there nodding along, because you’ve felt the same way.
